Micro- and Macro-Level Validation in Agent-Based Simulation: Reproduction of Human-Like Behaviors and Thinking in a Sequential Bargaining Game
نویسندگان
چکیده
This paper addresses both microand macro-level validation in agent-based simulation (ABS) to explore validated agents who can reproduce not only human-like behaviors externally but also human-like thinking internally. For this purpose, we employ the sequential bargaining game, which can investigate a change of humans’ behaviors and thinking longer than the ultimate game (i.e., one time bargaining game), and compare simulation results of Q-learning agents employing either of three types of action selections (i.e., the -greed, roulette, and Boltzmann distribution selections) in the game. Intensive simulations have revealed the following implications: (1) Q-learning agents with any type of three action selections can reproduce human-like behaviors but cannot human-like thinking, which means that they are validated from the macro-level viewpoint but not from the micro-level viewpoint; and (2) Q-learning agents employing Boltzmann distribution selection with changing the random parameter can reproduce both human-like behaviors and thinking, which means that they are validated from both microand macro-level viewpoints.

Simulation and Evaluation of Urban Development Scenarios Using Integration of Cellular Automata Model and Game Theory
Urban growth is a dynamic and evolutionary spatial and social process that relates to the changes of urban spatial units and the transformation of people’s lifestyles and consequently demographic changes. Considering the urban development process as a function of land uses interactions, population structure and the strategic behavior of the agents involved in the urban development process (the ...
متن کاملAn Agent-Based Dynamic Model of Politics, Fertility and Economic Development
In the political economy of development, government policy choices at a single point in time can dramatically affect a country’s development path by impacting fertility, economic and political decisions across generations. Combining both system dynamics and agent-based modeling approaches in a complex adaptive system, I formalize a simulation framework of the Politics of Fertility and Economic ...
متن کاملDesign of Air Traffic Control Operation System Using Multi Agent Technology and Simulation
Air traffic system is analyzed from the aspects of system's attributes internal operating mechanisms and external behaviors. A hybrid air traffic simulation model described by the combination of discrete event and continuoustime models is proposed. The simulation model uses Agent-based techniques to describe micro behaviors of the air traffic individuals and integrates micro behaviors into dyna...
متن کاملThe Impact of Developing Thinking Instructional Design Model on Aggression as a basis for Adolescent Immoral Behaviors
Background: Aggression is one of the factors underlying immoral behaviors. Thinking education can prevent aggression. The goal of this research, developing a thinking instructional design model based on Vigotsky's Social-Cultural Theory and assessing its impact on reducing aggression is one of the factors underlying students' immoral behaviors. Method: The research method is mixed and the resea...
متن کاملThe impact of culture on crowd dynamics: an empirical approach
In agent-based social simulation, crowd models are used to generate agent behaviors that should correspond closely to human crowds. Despite significant progress in this area, many existing crowd models do not yet account for important cultural factors in crowd behavior, and even more so, for mixed-culture crowds. Moreover, evaluation of crowd models accounting for culture is particularly diffic...
